The B2 exam telc is suitable for all learners of German who already have advanced German skills and would like to prove them with a telc certificate. We, at Learn and Speak, your language school in Leipzig, are the right place for this!

Telc certificates are considered reliable proof of your German language skills by universities, schools, government agencies and almost all companies without exception.

What do I have to know for the telc B2 exam?
The telc B2 exam tests your general German language skills at an advanced level.
This means that this exam is suitable
- on the one hand, for all people who have already successfully attended and completed a B2 German course,
- on the other hand, you can take the exam if you have acquired the relevant German skills elsewhere.
Level B2 implies that you are able to express yourself clearly and in detail in German. Among other things, this means being able to argue and negotiate successfully in German. You must also have a good command of German grammar and be able to draw on a comprehensive vocabulary, both in relation to your own subject area and to general topics.
How is the telc B2 exam structured?
The telc B2 examination consists of two parts:
- the written exam (2 hours 20 minutes)
- the oral exam (15 minutes)
The oral exam usually takes place the day after the written exam, but can also be scheduled on the same day.
You will receive all important information, for example about the date and procedure of your telc examination, in advance by e-mail.
Structure of the written exam
The telc B2 written exam lasts a total of 2 hours and 20 minutes and is made up of these areas:
- Reading comprehension (vocabulary and grammar): 90 minutes
- Written expression: 30 minutes
- Listening comprehension: 20 minutes
Good to know: Why is the telc B2 exam shorter than the telc B1 exam?
The shorter duration is due to the fact that in the B2 exam all listening texts are played only once.
Structure of the oral exam
Before your telc oral exam begins, you will be given 20 minutes of preparation time.
The subsequent practical part lasts 15 minutes. As a rule, you will take the oral examination with one other examinee. In the case of an odd number of examinees, instead of an interview with two people, a joint interview with three will be completed.
When do I pass the telc B2 exam?
You are considered to have passed the exam if you answer at least 60% of the tasks (in both the oral and written parts) of your telc exam correctly.
This means you must score at least 135 points in the oral exam and 45 points in the written exam. This corresponds to a total minimum score of 180.
How much does the telc B2 exam cost?
The examination fee is € 190.00.
Can I retake the exam?
Yes, you may retake the telc B2 examination. If you have failed either only the oral or only the written part, it is not necessary to take the entire exam again. In this case, you have the option of retaking only the respective failed part within one year.
When will I receive my telc certificate?
You have taken your telc exam and are now eagerly awaiting your certificate? We understand that!
However, your exam will not be evaluated at our office in Leipzig, but at telc headquarters in Bad Homburg. Immediately after your exam, we send all the documents to the head office and let you know immediately when we have received your results back. This process usually takes 4 to 6 weeks.
Please do not forget to bring your valid photo ID with you to the collection.
Can you also send me my telc certificate?
That is no problem. If you are not in Leipzig and are unable to pick up your certificate, we will be happy to send it to you by mail.
Important: For postal delivery, it is not sufficient to inform us by mail or phone. You must issue a power of attorney so that the certificate can be sent or someone can come and pick it up.
We will only charge you the postage costs for sending your certificate.
